The Incomplete Ending

The diary of Anne Frank though incomplete, has a good and meaningful ending. The last chapter in the diary summarizes the struggles Anne has to endure in her confinement. She questions the complexity of human nature and the balance of good and evil. Her maturity is shown when she realizes the good and bad come from the same root- human nature. Anne also parallels this to her own struggle of “turning my heart inside out, the bad part on the outside” illustrating the need to protect herself from the evil with evil.

The end of the chapter also shows Anne’s discovery of her own potential as an ambitious teenager. However, the unfulfilled dreams due to her unfortunate predicament, is heartbreaking.

In conclusion, this book leaves us with bittersweet sorrow as we have journeyed with Anne through maturity but yet experiences the shattered dreams of this extraordinary girl because of war.

Book Review- Diary Of Anne Frank

Book Review

The Diary of Anne frank is written during the Second World War. Anne Frank wrote this diary from 12 June 1942 to 1 August 1944. As Jews, when the Germans occupied Holland, Anne Frank's family had to go into hiding due to the discrimination of Jews during the Holocaust. Anne's hiding place was found in 1944 by the German Secret Police and her whole family was sent into concentration camps. Anne was sent to work as a slave labour, hauling rocks during the day and was crammed in unsanitary barracks at night. Due to the dirty and inhumane living conditions, Anne died of the Typhus epidemic in March 1945.

This book illustrates how war would bring suffering, pain and vividly describes how lives are destroyed such as Anne Frank's. Her diary not only displays her family dynamics in how they lived through the Holocaust period but also showed the strained relationship with her mother and added a touch of youthfulness in Anne Frank from her relationship with Peters. From her diary, we could also see that Anne was interested in literature and writing. Therefore, her skills in expressing her thoughts amidst the suffering prompt the publishing of her diary to be one of the world's most read books around the world.

This book conveys how the consequences of war could destroy countries, families and generations. Not only does this diary contain a touching and memorable description of Anne Frank, we are able to see from the perspective of an ordinary yet a very extraordinary teenage girl.
